My new ADKINS adventure

Well since the wedding I had completely fallen off the diet wagon and gained some weight back. So 2 weeks ago I decided to hop on the lowcarb bandwagon. My mom has lost 85 pounds in the last few years on it and looks wonderful!... So far its been good but difficult, who'd have known i was sooo addicted to carbs. Basically thats all I ate... low fat wheat thins, cereal, bread of all sorts, bagels, chips etc...

Man do I miss some of these things! But hey i am down 17 pounds so can't complain. Anybody else have any low carb diet tips/recipes/opinions??? (oh yes and its a myth that you cant eat veggies on adkins. I eat a cup of broccoli and 2 cups of salad every day)

I have also started cutting out the carbs; but I'm not doing the atkins thing. I'm cutting out all the bread and pasta (pizza, muffins etc.) I used to eat, but I am still enjoying the carbs in tomatoes that atkins doesn't allow you (I'm not eating carrots though). I'm eating protein @ every meal, and enjoying plenty of salad.

Breakfast:
- grapefruit
- 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon

Lunch:
- grapefruit or grapefruit juice
- salad (with oil & vinegar - no sugar)
- meat (usally a peice of chicken breast)

Dinner:
- grapefruit or grapefruit juice
- salad (with oil & vinegar - no sugar)
- Vegetables - as much and as many as I want.
- meat (usally a peice of chicken breast, steak or fish fillet)

It's really simple to follow, and makes grocery shopping really easy! I too couldn't believe how many carbs I was eating.
